They say a wedding is only for a day, but a marriage is for a lifetime. Yet, many of us fret over planning for our wedding. It definitely isn’t easy but with an early start and the right planning, the countdown to your wedding will be something you look forward to.
Here are 10 simple tips to follow when planning your wedding:
- Start Early
This is probably the most important tip. With ample time on hand, you can look around and make your decision wisely, instead of rushing to choose something just because you are running out of time.
- Plan It Together
No doubt many couples think that the wedding is “their day” and therefore only they should have a say in the planning; however having family and friends chip in with the planning and organizing certainly helps. Just make sure you are willing to listen to their suggestions.
- Plan your Budget
Most of us wish we could be marrying Donald Trump as then we will have an unlimited budget when planning for our wedding! However, if you don’t have a huge bank account to dip into, then plan your budget for the wedding. This includes stating the amount you’d be willing to spend on each item, including the dress, food, flowers, etc.
- Choose your Wedding Date
Many of us know that we want to get married soon but we don’t sit down and plan a date. Do you want a summer wedding in the garden, or prefer a white wedding theme during Christmas? Select your date and then start planning the wedding.
- Book your Venue
The most important thing would be to book your venue for the wedding early. You don’t want to be left with no choice if you wait too long to choose your venue. Good places get snapped up fast.
- Choose your Theme
It can be as simple as a Garden Wedding theme, whereby you have lots of flowers and plants for decoration. Or it can be more elaborate such as an Arabic Wedding theme, with your bridesmaids wearing traditional Arabic costumes. You can also choose a colour theme – cream and gold is a good combination. Whatever the theme, decide it first, as then choosing your decoration and food will be easier as it has to revolve around the theme.
- Have a Wedding Planner
This need not be a hired person. Simply having a planner or a diary to write down all the important details with the specific timelines, ensures that you do not miss out on any important items prior to the wedding.
- Buy your Dress Early
You don’t want to end up wearing a wedding dress that you do not like. Buy your dress early. Make sure you scout around all the possible shops and choose something that you really like. Never settle for a dress just because you’re out of time to shop.
9. Send your Wedding Invitations Out Early
This is important especially if you are inviting people who are not in the same town or country where your wedding is going to be held. Sending the invitations early allows them to book their flights early and avoid last minute rushes.
10. Plan your Honeymoon
In the midst of all the wedding plans, many of us forget to plan our honeymoon. So take some time off from the wedding plans to choose where you’d like to holiday for the honeymoon. After all the stress leading up to the big day, you both certainly need a break to wind down and just enjoy being married!
